Osprey FFA Membership and fishing rules

Membership lasts for 12 months and commence from 3rd March in any given year 

Membership shall be at the discretion of the committee and all members must be in possession of a current Environment Agency rod license when fishing club waters.

On joining Osprey FFA you are agreeing to abide by the rules of membership.

Any member found breaking any rules will forfeit their membership and surrender their permit card for a period determined by the committee.

There will be no reimbursement of permit fees if membership if forfeited as permit cards are non refundable or transferable.

Season river Taff

Only one rod may be used at a time while trout fishing.

The fishing season on the river Taff for trout 

3rd March to 30th September in any one year.

The fishing season on the river Taff for salmon 30th March to 30th September in any one year. 

All salmon caught MUST be returned as the river Taff is catch and release, (Natural Resources Wales bylaws)

Any salmon caught must be recorded and the following information emailed to the secretary.

Salmon

Use barbless or de barbed hooks.

Only single hooks allowed on spinners, spoons or plugs, with a maximum gape of 13mm.

You can use up to a maximum of 3 singles on a plug.

Using treble hooks for spinners, spoons or plugs is not permitted. 

Worm fishing for salmon is prohibited at all times. 

Trout

Artificial fly and spinner can be used on all our rivers at any time.

Single hook on spinners.

Bag limit of 2 trout per day on all rivers although Osprey FFA encourages members to return all fish unharmed to help build up our fisheries and gene pools.

Size limit 10 inches/25.4cm’s from tip of snout to tip of tail.
