About Us

Set up in 1971 from a fly-tying class in Ynysybwl, the Club originally held its meetings in a room over Lloyds Bank in Pontypridd. Eventually purchasing a dilapidated former Chapel Vestry in Abercynon which after a great deal of renovation is now reasonably presentable for our weekly meetings on a Wednesday evening. Over the years fishing rights were acquired on stretches of the Taff, Rhondda, Clydach and the Usk. A Block Licence was also obtained for the Beacons Reservoir.
A number of members have gained places in the Welsh teams taking part in International matches, several gaining the team captaincy. The Club hold a number of bank and boat competitions each year and have had considerable success in the Welsh Open Bank Championship and the Molly Sweet an Will Half Moon Competition. Annual Affilations are taken out with WSTAA and aAngling Trust and Fish Legal.
